FISHING REPORTS

June 5th

Went out with Richard, Babara, and Jake today nearshore, fisrt thing in the morning we got on the spanish thick, they were coming up and going down fast, current was moving out, big schools, had some fun with them for awhile and decided to go try and get a big redfish, …got some hadens and tried some new areas in the surf, was expecting sharks and reds, ended up getting into a nice trout bite, all fish 2#’s or better, largest just over 4#’s.

May 27th & 28th

Yesterday went offshore with Toby, got into the albies right off the bat in 45ft, nice sized fish, then got into the aj’s thick, ended the day with a 20 # cobia, today took out Bowen and some of his buddies from Kentucky, had a blast chasing spanish in the morning, got into the aj’s after that, ended the day with some …spades, ocean has been slick the past couple of days, at it again in the morning.

May 23rd

Took out Sam and Lizzie this am to chase some redfish, found them real happy this morning, tailing and busting shrimp. Ended up catching 7, lost a few, Used crab and menhaden, could have done well with the fly. Beautiful calm this morning, great to beat the weekend crowds.

May 21st

Had a break from poling the flats today, took out some guys form Chicago here on a bachelor party, soaked some crab, mullet, and menhaden in the Harbor. Caught a bunch of sharks, bonnets and sharpnose. Also caught some big reds. Reds hit on the swing of the low, crab and mullet.

Cobia!

Had a great last several days, Joe came in town Wed. late, we hit the tailing tide, saw lots of fish 20-25, Joe got one on a crab pattern, I lost two, one broken hook one spit the hook??? Thursday early we headed offshore, went 3 for 3 on the cobia using hogy lures, all cobes were small 36”ers, Joe also caught his bigg est AJ on fly, 50#er, Friday went out with Capt. John Irwin (Fly Right Charters), Joe Joe, and Guitou, had an awesome day, Joe Joe got his largest Cobia on fly, 25#er, Guitou caught his first AJ on fly, John caught a 40# cobia on fly, and I caught my largest cobia ever, 70#er on a hogy. Caught some more AJ’s and had some more shots at cobia. Saw lots of life and hungry fish! Released them to fight another day.
